About
Jumpseat's creator is Bennie L. Newsome; a mail carrier and cartoonist from Birmingham, Alabama. He birthed Jumpseat in 2020, wanting to get his perspective as a postal worker out to the public. The main character then was a seven-year-old, mail delivering elephant named Allen. Sadly, the comic strip flopped. After a three year hiatus, Jumpseat was resurrected and retooled. Allen (the mail delivering elephant) was replaced by Sydney D'Snail who originally appeared on Jumpseat's most popular selling merchandise: snail mail t-shirt.

Who is this mollusk that went from the online storefront to the comic strip's forefront? Sydney D'Snail is a mail carrier who lives on the route he services; therefore, his customers are his neighbors. In addition to being a mail carrier, Sydney is a husband, father of seven, botanist, aquarium enthusiast, avid sports fan, artist, chef, and so much more. The many hats worn by Sydney make him relatable. They make him unique. The everchanging head pieces and the snail that wears them took Jumpseat from a flop to an instant classic.
